ICEPEAK – enjoying real life since 1996
Up North, the weather has always been a bit like a family member. Constantly around, changes its mind rather frequently, and there’s not much anyone can do about it. You simply learn to live with it.
Perhaps that’s why, in Finland, people don’t usually ask whether it’s a good day to go outside. The question is more likely to be: what should I wear?
Finland has four distinct seasons – sometimes seemingly all in the same day – bringing their fair share of rain, wind, frost, sleet, sunshine and everything in between. Growing up with that teaches you a thing or two. When it rains, you reach for a shell. When temperatures drop, you add another layer. And when the sun finally comes out, you learn to appreciate it perhaps a little more enthusiastically than strictly necessary.

In the North, nature is never far away. Finland has so much forest that it’s actually rather difficult to avoid it. At Icepeak, we think that’s a pretty good arrangement.
Going outside doesn’t have to mean achieving anything in particular. It can be walking the dog, taking the usual route around the neighbourhood, heading into the woods, packing a picnic or venturing a little further for the weekend. Sometimes an outdoor experience means reaching the top of a fell. Sometimes it’s half an hour in the nearest forest with coffee from a flask. Both count.
And somehow, things tend to feel a little simpler outside. Emails rarely follow you into the forest. You may even find yourself looking at your phone less – unless, of course, you get lost and need the map.
In the beginning, there were…
…the forest, the trail and someone who wanted to go outside.

Icepeak was born in Finland in 1996 from an idea we still believe in today: the outdoors should be for everyone. Not just the fittest, the fastest, the bravest or those whose wardrobes bear a suspicious resemblance to a small outdoor shop.
To us, being outdoors is simply some of the best entertainment life has to offer. It might mean a walk around the neighbourhood, a Sunday outing with the family, taking the dog out in the sleet or spending a weekend on the trails. It’s not about how far you go. What matters is going.

That’s why we design clothes and footwear. For real outdoor life. The kind where the forecast isn’t always right, the trail turns out muddier than expected and your snacks are safely packed in the backpack you accidentally left in the hallway.
The right clothes can’t turn rain into sunshine or a headwind into a tailwind. But they can make both considerably more comfortable. That’s why we take materials, functionality, fit and quality seriously.
Life itself, a little less so.

For 30 years, we’ve been heading outside to see where the fresh air takes us. Along the way, we’ve designed clothing for adults, families, children, weekend hikers, everyday walkers and anyone who believes you don’t need a particularly good reason to go outside. We combine quality materials, functional details and thoughtful design to create reliable products at sensible prices.
Because we don’t believe being outdoors should be a performance. We’re not chasing records, summits or perfect conditions. In Finland, waiting for perfect conditions could mean waiting for quite some time.
Better to dress for the weather and go.
Because sometimes the best plan really is this simple:
Jacket on. Shoes on. Door open.
The weather is what it is. Life is still out there.

So let’s raise our water bottles to 30 years of fresh air, shared adventures, great views, forgotten snacks and all those moments that made going outside worth it.
